The Daily Bounce: ~Matthew - DAY 79

So, I recently finished reading The Singularity is Near by Ray Kurzweil. In that book, he talks about three Epochs. The first one is the biotechnology revolution, in which humans will be able to re-program their DNA to allow for greater longevity. He also mentions a book he co-authored with Terry Grossman M.D. entitled Fantastic Voyage: Live Long Enough to Live Forever. Well, to make a long story short, Ray and Terry have a website promoting different longevity products, and one of the products they recommend is a rebounder. Nice.

That's great news. I have also to add some great info: Newest scientific studies about back pain and neck pain in relationship to moving on unstable surfice (rebounding) http://www.qibounding.com/1846163.htm and cutting edge info about movement and the efficincy of fat burning enzymes (lipase) http://www.qibounding.com/1985144.htm.
>That's very good news, Slyvia! Thank you :)
I'm still not convinced that rebounding is profoundly better for weight loss than anything else. Just as swimmers don't tend to get very lean, I don't think rebounding, in and of itself, will, for instance, get rid of belly fat, butt fat, etc. I think to get rid of that stuff, you have to eat less…and move regularly (which rebounding is good for), and keep your lymph moving (which rebounding is good for), and on and on about what rebounding is good for…
but still, compared to a similar activity that uses a similar amount of energy, i don't necessarily think rebounding would be among the top ones in getting you to burn fat off…
anyway, i was hoping for that, but i think i'm just gonna have to eat less if i want to lose that last 10 pounds… ;-)
I know from personal experience that rebounding without sensible eating does not necessarily lead to weight loss. However sensible eating without movement is not too helpful either. The trick is the combination.
By the way, in Germany they are starting a scientific study very soon to proof weight loss through rebounding. They have already tons of evidence through experietial studies. Now they are going to “proof it” through a scientific study. I will keep you updated on that.
Jordan just told me that the second link concerning the study of Lipase - I have put on my comment above - is not accessable. Here comes the correct link. (Hope this time it works): http://www.qibounding.com/1985144.htm
Yes, testing 123. PLEASE TEST BACK TO ME ON ONE OF MY BLOG ENTRIES. That will put my mind at rest. Maybe. I think I shall request (elsewhere) in the strongest terms we all get retroactive Blog Comment notifications back to the time of the switchover.
And since we're on the subject: It is possible to reprogram DNA right now, using energy technology, spiritual stuff. I have done it and so have others. Significant longevity HAS to be a holistic project, not just physical, eh?
Profound and Extreme Gratitude,
OM Bastet
Hey Matthew I am doing it…..Only 78 days behind you. Am keeping a detailed journal about my six month rebounding journey.
I loved my first time.
I had to laugh. I thought what strange things we have to do these days to keep fit. Now that we do not have to run over hills looking for our sheep and cattle, or walk to wherever no matter how many miles, or conquer the world as a foot soldier in the Roman Army. Now I stand on this little thingy and go boing, boing, boing, boing…….it makes me laugh…..
I love that! Your humor and the fun that you are having is part of what makes it all worth while, eh?
Hey, I think I am getting rebounding highs……Wheeeee.
My chakras LOVE it. Am going to dig out my wrist weights….a monumental project…tee heee. Last night I included qigong for my arms.
Damn, when I pressed the 'add comment' button my comment went poof….will try again….
I think my chi ball is bigger than my wee faerie cottage today……lololol.
So, wrist weights, eh? I haven't actually tried strapping anything on like that, because usually after 5 or 10 minutes with with substantial weights for these purposes, I want to put them down (safely toss them to the side) so I can go back to completely free and unrestricted movement. I'm curious to hear how wrist weights work for you, and whether you leave them on the whole time or put them on and take them off or maybe just hold them.
As for your chi ball being bigger than your faeire cottage, is that a good thing or a bad thing?
The first project is to FIND them in my magical, mystery, storage space. You'll definitely be the first to know how I go, when it happens. My wrist weights are tiny compared to what you work with, Jordan….lol.
Big chi ball - a good thing
Matthew, are you using weights whilst rebounding?
JG, on M, W, and F, I bounce with three-pound weights (400 arm curls, 120 military presses, 120 side deltoid raises, 100 front deltoid raises). I also do jumping jacks, twists, and other fun stuff without weights. Then when I finish bouncing, I lift weights on the bowflex (those same days). The rest of the week, it's all free-style :)
~M
Wow, you must look gorrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrgeoous…..lololololol.
And here am I looking for my weeny wrist weights. lololol. 400 myyyyy……doing them is one challenging way to go but COUNTING them now that's a drag. lololol
Thanks ~M. I need to get some weights going with my rebounding. I love doing qigong as that gets my chakras all fired up and pulsing.
Taa for the inspiration. ;-)
Thanks JG… I'd say when all is said and done, I've probably lost about 10 pounds. My love handles are all but gone, and it looks as though I'm starting to make a dent on that beer belly too :)
Regarding the weights, it's fine because I rotate to the four corners of the earth. So, for example, when I'm doing my delt raises, I'll count 30 to the East, then 30 to the South, etc. But I really should get some heavier weights for the arm curls. 400 reps might be a bit much :)
Hugs,
~M
400 reps *sounds* like a lot to me, but for the meditative way you go about things, Matthew, it may be perect for you.
I started with 2 five-pound dumbells, then went up to 7s, then 8s, and now, on occasion, 10s. It's critical to never do anything that goes against the plane of a joint's movement, that is, you don't want to use your body (core, lower legs) to power up a bounce that is bigger than your arms/shoulders/wrists can handle while holding weights. You don't want to bounce off more than you can chew.
As for reps, I've found that a reasonably heavy weight (which has changed as I've gotten stronger) takes about 100 reps to give me a decent workout, 150 to let me know I'm really working, and 200 to get a serious burn where I have to:
* rely on my breath to get me through it,
* I shift my posture and arm/shoulder/wrist position, and ideally thereby
* recruit new muscles and neurological pathways, in order to get through to my goal.
It sounds like you're doing great, Matthew! With three of us at it now, maybe I really should initialize “The Daily Bounce” page (with auto-feeds to our various blogs or wherever we record our progress).
Thanks to you both for undertaking the experiment!!!!
Thank YOU, Jordan.
I am surprised how much the rebounding has touched my spirit. I go into default meditation.
OK, I am up for whatever you seve up on my mitochondria work bench.
G'day Matthew. I got through the door late last night after class all ready to rebound. Switched on the wall heater, cuddled up in front of it, shucked off my boots, and zzzzzzzzzzed out. I awoke early this morning still wearing my coat and scarf. I guess chibounding is resolving my insomniac night prowling in my faerie cottage. This is the second time…..lolololol.
Do you really live in a cottage? That sounds like fun!
Yes I do - a tiny one with a magical faerie garden filled with organic veggies, an art studio that J.G. built, and butterfies and feathered friends.
Wow. Amazing.
