Ken Wilber says he ain't got no time to blog...

Posted on Mar 26th, 2006 by ~Matthew : Youthful Maturity ~Matthew
But he may "have a small team of editors blog with and for" him.  I don't really like that answer.  Ken is a writer.  In Kosmic Consciousness (and elsewhere), he pointed out that meditation is the single best thing a person can do to move through stages of development.  When people tell him they don't have time to meditate, his response is "I don't have time NOT to meditate... it's the fastest route."  (That's actually more of a paraphrase than a quote).

Well, I'd say Ken doesn't have time NOT to blog.  Why?  It's the single fastest way to write a solid book.  You get your criticisms in real time.  You can edit, change, and adapt your ideas as they are critiqued.  You can hardly get a thought out before someone hyperlinks to some evidence that you weren't aware of.  This integrates the "I" and the "we" with the "it" and the "its" and makes for a phenomenal book in a fraction of the time.  And... you can always claim the rights to any of the comments that are added to your blog.  This will give you the versatility to adapt your writing as people comment without the worry of having to credit every single source.  I also think this will deter people who just want to narcissistically trash your work (because they'll know that you have the oppurtunity to revise and that they won't necessarily be credited for the revisions... that is, their narcissism won't be fed).  Of course, if nothing else, the "comments" section can always just be turned off, as suggested by ~C in the comments below.  At least that's what I predict ~C is going to comment about.

Personally, I think not having time to blog is the same excuse as not having time to work out is the same excuse as not having time to meditate is the same excuse as... well you get the picture.

I love Ken; that's why I want to see him blog.  Just imagine how more powerful his writing could be if he'd just give in!

YES. YOU ARE SO RIGHT AGAIN!

i'll do my best to show the Bald Philosopher King the light that he's not seeing. he may be UBER-FLUFFY but he's not ALL THAT FLUFFY. allow me to share a quote from Scott Adams:

“I imagine Stephen King rolling over in his grave when he hears that McGruder doesn’t have time to write his four sentences per day for the strip. I realize Stephen King is still alive, but I assume he sleeps in a grave anyway.”

there. i think you should link to this post from this THREAD.

but for for what it's worth… KW will blog soon and he will kick ass.

Hmmm… blogging = religion??  Ok, let's do it!  But first we need some dogma:

1. Thou shalt not blog to the detriment of any sentient being (except ~C)
2. Thou shalt not consider thy blog the final say unless thou art ultimately correct
3. Thou shalt worship Matthew above all other bloggers
4. Thou shalt not take the Matthew's name in vein
5. Thou shalt not covet thy neighbor's rice milk
6. Thou shalt be afflicted with OCT.
7. Etc…

Is there going to be a mythic blog battle between ~C and Matthew? Wouldn't that be awesome? Of course you have allied together in common pursuit: to make Ken Wilber blog.

Ken, they love you! What are you gonna do? They are calling you to greatness, to new horizons, to this blogging frenzy of connected thought sparking potential of unimagined growth and advancement to be actualized in this “we” space and beyond.

blogging is no more a religion than dancing. same as dancing, it's not for the faint of heart. my heart is faint when it comes to dancing. and so i blog. KW is not a dancer (i think). he writes good stuff. i want to see that he put his talent where it belongs. in the blogosphere, where it can hyper-evolve with all those who want to dance with it.

good points Matthew. i agree that blogging is a fast way to write a solid book, with actual references. but here are my thoughts on it.

having comments on your blog is both a boon and a bane. it really depends on the blogger's preference. if he has time fending off AQAL, godspeed. but i think this is one of the reasons KW doesn't like to blog. his critics and mindless-numb-drone accolades will just have a field day.

my suggestion: turn off the freaking comment section. enable trackbacks so that others can still comment on his post but IN THEIR OWN blogs. this is the Steve Pavlina solution. very Dandy!

next suggestion: KW DOESN'T have to write a book fer Chrissake!!! what i want from him are his thoughts, his interiors, his daily musings, his glimpse of the nondual, how he writes from his Original Face, not his UBER-COMPLICATED THEORIES. i don't like to fall asleep while reading a blog.

but allow me to conclude with this statement from none other than Malcolm Gladwell, he's the freakin' author of The Tipping Point!

“In the past year I have often been asked why I don’t have a blog. My answer was always that I write so much, already, that I don’t have time to write anything else. But, as should be obvious, I’ve now changed my mind. I have come (belatedly) to the conclusion that a blog can be a very valuable supplement to my books and the writing I do for the New Yorker. What I think I’d like to do is to use this forum to elaborate and comment on and correct and amend things that I have already written.”

now tell me. who's fluffier?
